§ 16-36. Cancelling and correcting erroneous assessments for installation of sidewalks and construction of sewers; refunds.
(a)
The city manager is hereby authorized to direct the director of finance to charge off or correct on his books of account, and, if necessary, cancel or correct on the judgment docket where recorded, from time to time, such unpaid and outstanding charges against abutting property owners for the installation of sidewalks and the construction of sewers as may be found to have been erroneously or incorrectly assessed, in whole or in part.
(b)
In the event any such erroneous or incorrect assessment has been paid, in whole or in part, the city manager is authorized to refund the amount of such erroneous or incorrect assessment, or part thereof, so paid from the fund to which such payment has been credited. (Code 1958, § 19-6.10)
