§ 31-16. Protection of mall surfaces, etc., from damage by vehicles or equipment.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or park any vehicle or equipment on any mall in such a manner as to damage or deface any surface, structure or accessory thereof. No motor vehicle shall be parked upon any area of a mall, unless its driver shall have placed beneath its motor, transmission or any oil reservoir, a drip pan or similar device designed to prevent oil, lubricants and similar stain-producing liquids from dripping upon the mall surface, except postal, refuse collection or other "frequent stop" vehicles. No such vehicles or equipment shall travel on other than inflatable rubber tires and they shall not contain parts or appendages which would drag along the surface of the mall. Any person operating any vehicle or equipment causing damage to a mall shall be responsible to the city for the cost of satisfactory repair. (Code 1958, § 32.1-8)
