§ 48-8. Standards for weights and measures.
(a)
No person shall use or have in his possession in the city any balance, weight or measure which does not conform to the legal standard, or any measure the actual capacity of which is less than its represented or purported capacity, or any computing scale or other weighing device, intended or purporting to indicate both weight and money value, unless all points, marks, graduations and indicators thereon intended or purporting to indicate weight are so made, arranged and contrived as to indicate the same accurately, nor unless all points, marks, graduations and indicators thereon intended or purporting to indicate money value are so arranged and contrived as to indicate such value accurately at each of the several unit prices shown on the device. The face or dial of such device shall be plainly visible to the customer.
(b)
No person shall manufacture, sell, exchange or give away in the city any weight, measure or weighing device that does not conform to the legal standards. (Code 1958, §§ 52-11, 52-14)
