Article II. FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS GENERALLY |
§ 18.1-20. Examination and condemnation of unwholesome or adulterated food.
(a)
Samples of food, drink and other substances may be taken from any food establishment and examined by the director of public health, the director of health services, the director of environmental health or the director of laboratories, as often as may be necessary for the detection of unwholesomeness or adulteration. Any such officer may condemn and forbid the sale of, or cause to be removed or destroyed, any food or drink which he may suspect to be unwholesome or adulterated.
(b)
A laboratory swab test shall be taken in accordance with standard methods, whenever deemed necessary by any officer named in subsection (a), above. The presence of bacterium coli shall be considered evidence of unwholesomeness or adulteration.
