Chapter 20. GARAGES, GASOLINE SUPPLY STATIONS AND AUTOMOBILE PARKING STATIONS |
§ 20-6. Precautions against fire in commercial garages.
(a)
The owner of each commercial garage within the limits of the city shall comply with the following requirements:
(1)
Every such owner shall install and keep installed a sufficient supply of metal waste cans, with self-closing tops, to take care of all waste;
(2)
Every such owner shall install one fire extinguisher, bearing the stamp of the Underwriters' Laboratories, for each two thousand (2,000) square feet of floor area, or any portion thereof, in the garage;
(3)
Every such owner shall keep suspended from the wall of such garage one bucket of dry sand for every one thousand (l,000) square feet of floor area in the garage;
(4)
Every such owner shall keep posted a sufficient number of "No Smoking" signs to make such a sign visible from every part of the garage.
(b)
Any person failing to comply with any provision of this section shall be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor. (Code 1958, § 22-6)
